Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

No, BioMed Health Center is a cash-based practice that does not accept insurance, which includes Medicare, Medicaid, and Tricare. Naturopathic Doctors are considered “out of network” health practitioners on almost all insurance policies. However, we do accept most HSA’s and FSA’s for payment. We also accept cash, check and all major credit cards. Payment for appointments and services will be due at the time of service. Additionally, we can provide a Superbill after your visit that you may submit to your insurance for the small chance of financial reimbursement. Call your insurance provider before your appointment if you would like to know whether they will reimburse you for our appointments.

What can i expect from my free consultation?

The free consultation is a 15 minute appointment with any practitioner at BioMed Health Center. We recommend you visit us in person, but the the appointment can also be done over the phone. It is an opportunity to meet the practitioner, have any questions answered, and discover if naturopathic medicine is right for your specific medical needs with no obligations.

How long are the appointments?

Depends on the appointment!

  • An Initial Visit will be approximately 1 hour
  • Follow Up visits range from 30-45 minutes
  • IV appointments range from 30-90 minutes
  • Vitamin injections are 15 minutes
  • PRP facials and injections are approximately 1 hour
  • Ozone injections are 15-30 minutes

What if I can’t make my appointment?

We ask that you cancel more than 48 hours in advance of your appointment. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment in less than 48 hours prior to your visit then you will be charged a standard $50 fee, per the BioMed Health Center cancellation policy. As part of this policy, you may use the cancellation fee as credit towards a future appointment.

How often should I come in for follow up consultations?

We focus on disease prevention and optimal health. Thus, the best results are achieved through regular visits and services. A follow up visit is typically scheduled 2 weeks to 1 month after the initial appointment to give ample time for lab results to come in and the doctors to review them. We recommend scheduling return visits every 3-6 months after that depending on your goals and treatment regiment. Note that some treatments require more frequent lab testing than others.

Do i still need to see my other doctors?

Naturopathic doctors can serve as your primary care physician. We will refer you to specialists and work with your other providers as necessary. Teamwork makes the dream work!

Can Naturopathic Doctors prescribe medication?

The laws regarding prescription rights vary from state to state. In some states ND’s have full prescribing rights. In California prescription rights are limited to hormones, but other medications like antibiotics may be prescribed with the supervision of an MD.

Do you offer walk-in appointments?

Appointments are also needed for a consultations with our physicians. We offer walk in appointments for IM injection therapy and sometimes have the flexibility to provide IV therapy on a walk-in basis. It is always recommended you call, even if it is on the way!

What is the purpose of regular lab testing?

Bloodwork gives us the best snapshot of your health at that moment in time. We use lab values as quantitative measures of progress to ensure you are on the right path to feeling better!
